Kids Against Road Salt Documentary 2015

Produced for the 2015 WaterDocs Film Festival @School programme, Kids Against Road salt explore issues of contamination in our local watersheds from Road Salt and other over-used contaminants.

Kids Against Road Salt is a group of students at Star Academy in Mississauga who have been taking action against Road Salt contamination since 2013. This project involved several months of work in a cross-curricular, 21st Century learning environment where the project was student-led and teacher-facilitated. Students produced content for Social Media, a blog, as well as reaching out to community members through a letter writing campaign and selling an environmentally friendly alternative for ice-safety. The Mural painted by the students is currently on display at the corner of South Service Rd and Dixie Rd in Mississauga.
